When should I stop watering my tree in the fall?
When the ground freezes, plant roots go dormant and can no longer absorb water effectively. At this point, continuing to water is unnecessary and can even lead to ice buildup around the roots. Once soil temperatures drop below freezing and remain consistently cold, you can safely stop watering for the season, as plants will rely on stored moisture until spring. Check ground temps here.
