Warranty Policy

No returns on nursery stock are permitted.



Receipt required for warranty consideration.

Bentley Ridge Tree Farm and Nursery guarantees applicable trees and shrubs, one time, for a period of one year from date of original purchase, applicable perennials and grasses have a one time warranty replacement window of 90 days from date of original purchase.    There is no warranty on sale items, annuals, houseplants, fruits, vegetables, Japanese Maples, Green Giant Arborvitae, Peach trees, or lavender varieties. There is no warranty on items planted in planters or above ground pots nor is there a warranty on items left in their nursery containers due to their inability to withstand Iowa's conditions above ground. 

The warranty is null and void if plant death or damage was caused by juglone poisoning, a mower or trimmer, improper care, over-watering, under-watering, snow pack, frost, lightning, hail, wind, flood, drought, children, deer*, rabbits, or any other animals or insects. Plants that are located in the range of a sprinkler system and are receiving regular watering intended for yards are not warrantable. Warranty is not offered to third party contractors or landscapers. You must present the original receipt for warranty consideration. Warranty is non-transferable. Availability of nursery stock can change, for this reason the warranty value is issued as a credit, and that credit can be used up to a year after it was issued. Warranty credits can only be applied towards full priced/ non-sale plant material. No refunds. Our warranty policy is the same if you plant or if we planted for you as long as our planting protocols have been followed. Labor charges such as delivery, planting, and staking will be recharged if they are needed again unless the applicable labor warranties were purchased. 

*Deer Guards are meant to help deter deer from scraping the trunks of the tree, but they will not prevent eating of branches or overly aggressive deer damage to trunks. If you are in a highly populated deer area, fencing around the drip line of the tree would be highly recommended, especially for the fall and winter months.

Fill out Warranty Claim on website if issue arises.  DO NOT DIG UP PLANT MATERIAL BEFORE HEARING BACK FROM US IN REGARD TO YOUR WARRANTY CLAIM. DO NOT BRING PLANT MATERIAL BACK IN.  Plants dug up or brought in with no prior contact void the aforementioned warranty. Pictures are required for warranty purposes.

Labor Warranty:

With the purchase of a one gallon root stimulator, a one pound container of Osmocote, and a bag of mycorrhiza per plant, we will cover the cost to deliver and plant that item if a warranty situation arises. Labor warranties can be purchased at the time of the original receipt, but can not be added to previous transactions. The delivery side of the labor warranty can only be utilized once, so if more than one item is deemed warrantable at different times the delivery will only be covered once.


Policies and Protocols

 

Holding Policy:

 

Plants in a 7 gallon container or larger can be held by Bentley Ridge Tree Farm for a period of up to 2 weeks. If you have not contacted us to set up a time or picked it up within that that 2 week window you will be charged a 10% fee and the remaining balance will be returned to you. At this time the plant in question will be returned to open inventory for repurchase by any party. All plants in smaller containers must be taken the day that they are purchased.

 


 

Planting Protocol:

 

Planting Timeline

 

  • Put white flags in yard 1 week prior to planting. Flag location is where the tree will go, and where utility locates will be called . If you want them in a straight line that is up to you to facilitate. Our crew can provide feedback on location of plants but it is not their house, nor their responsibility to align the plants for you.
  • Bentley Ridge Tree Farm calls 811 for Iowa One Call locate services.
  • Iowa One Call will arrive and locate the utilities around the flags (they are not affiliated with Bentley Ridge Tree Farm, and they will not give notice of their arrival). They will not locate utilities in the entire yard for planting services, therefore, if the flags were not out at time of their arrival, we will have to reschedule the planting to accommodate for proper locates to be completed. This will result in a second delivery charge.
  • After locate services have been completed, re-evaluate tree placement to avoid problems with the locates. (Must be at least 3 ft from a utility line) 
  • Our crew will call prior to leaving Bentley Ridge Tree Farm with your plants, please let them know of any final concerns at this point.
  • We will then arrive and install your new plants! Our crew upon arrival will start hauling trees to the flagged locations immediately. If changes need to be made this could result in additional charges as they are under the assumption the flagged locations are absolute.

 

Planting Courtesies

 

  • Please clean up debris from yard (pet waste, toys, sticks). If planting area is too unkept or unclean for our crews to plant, per our discretion, they will leave without notice and the area will have to be cleaned up prior to planting. This will result in a second delivery charge.
  • If possible please mow or trim the area where the plants are going. Do not disturb the areas that have been marked with locate flags or lines.
  • If we are planting in rock, please have the rock pulled back from the planting location prior to our arrival. If this is not done this will result in an extra labor fee or second planting charge.

 

General Notes

 

  • Bentley Ridge Tree Farm does not remove trees. If you want a tree planted in the same area as a pre-existing tree, the tree and stump must be removed enough to accommodate the new root ball. If our crew is unable to dig in a reasonable manner, per our discretion, this will result in extra labor charges or a second delivery charge.
  • Bentley Ridge Tree Farm will not haul away yard waste or trimmings from yard work.
  • Iowa One Call does not locate private utilities (invisible fence, small electric, irrigation); if you have private utilities in your yard it is your responsibility to have those located. Bentley Ridge Tree Farm is not liable for damage to private utilities.
  • Bentley Ridge Tree Farm is not liable for trees remaining straight after being planted or staked. Staking service will be offered for all applicable trees, but we cannot control the weather or settling conditions of the soil, therefore it is your responsibility to keep the tree straight after planting. If Bentley Ridge Tree Farm is requested to revisit a planting location due to tree movement a service fee will apply. 
  • Any changes to orders made after the initial order has been placed may result in a 10% restocking fee, due to loss of potential sale. This is determined per the discretion of management.
  • Bentley Ridge Tree Farm reserves the right to refuse service to anyone at anytime. If the area was not as described, or the well-being of our employees may be at risk, service may be refused and service charges will still apply.

 

General Notes

 

  • Bentley Ridge Tree Farm and Nursery is not responsible for the locate, repair, or cost of repair for private utilities. These include but are not limited to irrigation, lighting, invisible fence, private gas, water, or electric, etc.

 

Warranty Claim

For warranty considerations please fill out the form below and we will respond to you as soon as we can. Please be as thorough as possible in this form, so that we can appropriately assess the situation. Send pictures of the plant, the area around the plant, and close ups of the plant.

If plants are struggling, but are able to be helped please submit a claim, and we will respond with suggestions on those. We will also document the information under your name in our system.
